SFs join blood donation camp

A large number of people from different walks of life today participated at the Mega Blood Donation camp organised by RIMS' Department of Immunohaematology & Blood Transfusion under the aegis of Manipur AIDS Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council at RIMS Blood Bank.
The donors included personnel of the State and Central security forces, film personalities, Govt employees, students and even a visually impaired regular donor, combining for a total of 316 units of blood at the end of the first day.
While a 69 Bn CRPF statement put the number of blood donors from its unit at 50 personnel, PRO IGAR (S) in a release said, a total of 40 Assam Rifles personnel donated blood at the occasion.
many of the donors are informed to be regular donors, with one visually impaired Leishangthem Mangi of Haobam Marak informing this reporter that he has so far provided blood on 40 occasions.
Similarly, theatre/film personality Narendra Ningombam said till date he has donated 25 units of blood.
As per record maintained at the time of the blood donation camp, 351 volunteers had registered for the noble cause.
All the donors were presented one T-shirt each along with snacks.
According to Associate Professor (RIMS) Dr A Balindra Sharma, the two day blood donation camp is targeting participation of atleast 500 volunteers.
Confiding that the RIMS Blood Bank requires minimum stock maintenance from 1 percent donors out of the State's total population, he also informed that till date there are 21,000 voluntary blood donors in Manipur.
