Police make traffic diversions, parking arrangements for June 18

Imphal, June 17 2011:
Traffic diversions and parking arrangements effective from 5 am to 5 pm has been made by the Imphal west policeto regulate traffic on the occasion of the June 18 observation at Kekrupat.
As in the previous years, the state is remembering the June 18, 2001 incident in which 18 people died in violent protests against extension of the GoI-NSCN(IM) ceasefire "without territorial limit" .
Imphal West police said normal passenger vehicles coming from Thoubal will be diverted from Singjamei Bazar towards Kongba road and Wangkhei side via Singjamei Bridge and park at Palace compound.
Vehicles coming from Mayang Imphal will be diverted at Khagempali crossing and Kwakeithel Bazar towards Lamphel bus parking via Tera Bazar.
Vehicles coming from Tiddim will also be diverted towards Lamphel.
They will follow the same route in their return journey.
Vehicles coming from Sagolband side will be parked at Moirang Leirak Machin bus parking while for vehicles coming from Uripok Kangchup road it will be near JAS Petrol pump.
Vehicles coming from Sekmai and DM Road will be diverted at Khongnang Ani Karak towards the inter-state bus terminus while vehicles coming from Pangei side will be parked at Lamlong High School.
The parking will be at the northern side of Lamlong Bazar for vehicles coming from Ukhrul and Tinsid road side.
Parking arrangement for vehicles coming from Yairipok and Andro sides has been arranged at Andro parking lot, the police statement added.
Parking for vehicles and buses carrying people to attend June 18 observation function at Kekrupat has also been made.
People coming to Kekrupat will be allowed to enter the site from Minuthong and Khuman Lampak sides only.
No one shall be allowed to come to Kekrupat via Keishampat-Sanjenthong, the police statement said informing that vehicles coming from Thoubal side carrying people to attend the function will be diverted at Singjamei Bazar via Singjamei bridge towards Kongba road, Wangkhei and then towards New Checkon road.
The vehicles coming from Mayang Imphal side are to proceed to Stadium complex via Keishampat-Kwakeithel Bazar-Tera Bazar-Lilashing Khongnangmakhong and park at stadium complex at the northern gate and at the area around the main stadium.
The vehicles coming from Tiddim side will be diverted from Kwakeithel Bazar towards Lamphel and then to Lilashing Khongnangmakhong to reach the Nothern Central gate of the stadium.
In the same manner vehicles coming from Uripok Kangchup road will also be diverted to the routes leading to Khuman Lampak stadium.
The vehicles coming from Sekmai side will directly proceed towards the stadium while for the vehicles coming from Ukhrul, Tinsid road will be allowed to proceed upto Minuthong where people to attend the function can be dropped there.
The vehicles coming from Yairipok and Andro side will also be allowed to proceed upto Minuthong to drop people and will park near Hafiz Hatta.
Vehicles for the families of victims of June 18 will be allowed to go across Khoyathong LIC crossing towards North AOC and park in front of Asha Cinema.
Earmarked vehicles of UCM will also be allowed to come to Kekrupat via Khongnang Ani Karak and earmarked vehicles of AMUCO will be allowed to come to THAU ground via Khoyathong, the police traffic arrangement said.
