Acting on four different writ petitions, the Guwahati High Court in its different Imphal Bench sittings, has maintained that the Govt should follow due process of law if it intends to evict the buildings of the petitioners located at the eastern side of Wangjing Bazar.
The orders were passed some days back by two different single sittings of the Imphal Bench of Guwahati High Court headed by Justice M Birioykumar and T Nandakumar following writ petitions filed by the house owners.
On Nov 5 and 6 SDO Thoubal and SDC Khongjom along with their staffs arrived at Wangjing Bazar demarcated the areas covered by the petitioners, sources said.
Some of the officials even told the petitioners that the building structures would be evicted in view of the Govt's plan to widen the NH 39, the sources added.
The four petitioners, apprehending that their houses would be evicted without any notice by the Govt, filed the writs before the High Court.
While endorsing the Govt's plan to widen NH 39, the petitioners who are pattadars of their respective areas, said proper process should be done by the Govt according to law if at all the Govt wants to evict their houses.
