7th Eco Census launched in IE

Imphal, August 23 2019:
Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East launched the Seventh Economic Census at CSC Data Gen, Soibam Leikai Ayangpalli Road, Imphal East today.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Rangitabali stressed the need for gathering accurate data about the economic activity of people for effective planning and implementation of Government schemes.
The Seventh Economic Census will be conducted in two phases in Manipur.

The first phase which was launched today covers six valley districts�Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, and Jiribam.
The second phase will be launched on September 9 in 10 hill districts�Senapati, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, Noney, Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, and Kamjong.
The duration for the Seventh Economic Census is three months.
The Seventh Economic Census is conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) after a gap of five years.
The Ministry has selected Common Service Centre (CSC) e-Governance Services India Ltd-Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India as the implementing agency.
In the Seventh Economic Census, an IT-based digital platform for data capture, validation, report generation, and dissemination will be used.
For the first time, the Economic Census will be paperless.
The enumerators engaged by the CSC will do the enumeration of the establishments by using Mobile App and all the establishments will be geo-tagged informed the DC.
The enumerators engaged by the CSC will visit door-to-door and collect information from all establishments.
Dr Rangitabali exhorted the people of her district to extend their full cooperation to the enumerators by providing correct information and to participate in the development planning of the State.
Jogeshchandra Haobijam, Superintendent of Police (SP), Imphal East, Mayanglambam Madhuchandra Singh, Deputy Director-General, NSO (FOD), Regional Office, Imphal, Wangkhem Dilip Singh, State Head, CSC SPV, Ahongshangbam Bisorjit Singh, State Nodal Officer, 7th Economic Census, DES, Manipur and SDOs were among those present.
Economic Census provides valuable insight into geographical spread/clusters of economic activities, ownership pattern, persons engaged, etc.
of all economic establishments in the country.
Economic Census will cover all establishments including household enterprises, engaged in production or distribution of goods/services (other than for the sole purpose of own consumption) in the non-farm agricultural and non-agricultural sector.
