Imphal, October 22 2019: Chief Minister N Biren Singh today co-chaired a Security review meeting with the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, who arrived here yesterday.

The meeting was attended by top profile government employees of the state including Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu, Director General of Police LM Khoute top level officers of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles and other members of the Unified command including high profile leaders of the state Home department.

Prevailing issues of the awaiting final settlement between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM and probable impact to the state of Manipur may have been discussed during the security review meeting even as it cannot be confirmed on what actually were the agenda of the meeting, a source said.

Political analyst said that the visit of the MoS Home Affairs G.Kishan Reddy coincided with the government of India's strong commitment to settle the Naga issue by October 31.And that the discussion has included security measures that have to be taken up if in case any unwanted things happen.

"It may not be because that the settlement hurt the sentiment of the Manipuri people but it may be to control any peoples' violent movement at any part of the state as a fall out of the final agreement", the Political analyst said.

When Imphal Times contacted the DIPR staffs deployed at the Chief Minister's Office, we were told that no staffs of the IPR were allowed to present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, as per unofficial report reaching here heavy troops of Indian army are reportedly reinforced at the Army cantonment at Rangapahar in Dimapur.

The source said that movement of tank and heavy armor were seen exercising inside the camp in addition to the normal training of the Indian security forces.

District administrators had been ordered to stay in the office in their respective district head quarters in Nagaland as security measures.

And it is expected that the government of Manipur may issue similar directives to all the district administrators of the state of Manipur to confine in their respective offices at district head quarters.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the all Political parties is being underway at the Chief Minister's office to discuss the issues of the final settlement between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India.

The meeting begins with every political party's members expressing apprehension about the possible outcome if the agreement contains clauses that may hurt the sentiment of the people of the state.

This time two representatives of the opposition Congress party are also attending the all political party meeting.

Details of what decision has been taken during the meeting could not be known as of now as the meeting still continue at the time of filing this story.
