'Poor' cement

In a bizarre and rare case, a shop has been found selling a cement brand which does not get hardened when it is blended/mixed with water and sand.
Following various complaints received by International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) and Kangleipak Students Association (KSA), the two bodies have closed down the shop for selling the cement brand.
Addressing the media, IPSA President Elangbam Johnson said, since the past few days, they have been receiving complaints from Kongpal, Porompat and Huikap areas regarding the matter.
Acting on the complaints, volunteers of IPSA and KSA looked into the matter and it was found that the name of the brand was 'Valley Strong' manufactured by Barak Valley Cement Ltd, he added.
Later, the two bodies tried to find out the shops which have the stock of the particular brand, he added.
During a random drive, Johnson said, M/s RP Trader, Khoyathong was found selling the same brand today.
The owner of the said shop is one Bishnu Roy from Fullator, Cachar, Assam .
He said that the shop has been asked to close down for selling the brand.
Johnson added that the manufacturer of the brand, Barak Valley Cement Ltd must clarify on the matter at the earliest.
He also urged the general public and contractors not to use this brand in construction works.
Expressing apprehension that there must some groups who are indulging in adulteration, Johnson urged the general public to remain alert in this regard.
