A mass rally was taken out today at Khoupum valley with a view to restore peace and tranquillity in the area.
The peace rally was participated by the Zeliangrong Students' Union Khoupum Area, Khoupum Area Village Authority Council, Khoupum Area Churches Fellowship, Rongmei Luh Phuam and the public.
The rally participated by thousands of people was flagged off from Gaidimjang Part I ground and wound up at Thanagong Ground where a public meeting was also held.
The meeting adopted a number of resolutions like no militant cadre/group should take shelter or station themselves at Khoupum area.
No organisation/group should make monetary demand to the people of Khoupum area.
No group organisation should commit provoke violence in Khoupum area.
No intoxicating substances should be sold in Khoupum area and if any one is found dealing in intoxicating substances.

Khoupum Area Village Authority Council secretary Chamdinmei Malangmei said that the people of Khoupum area took out a mass rally and adopted several resolutions as they could no longer bear harassments and violence committed by different organisations in the area.
Students of Khoupum area can no longer pursue their studies in peace.
People are even afraid to go to fields for agricultural works.
The mass rally cum public meeting was aimed at checking rampant extortion by different armed groups.
There were several instances when villagers found themselves at the receiving end after UG groups clashed against each other.
Every people should take due responsibility to check such unwanted activities, Chamdinmei Malangmei said.
He added that 2/5 Gorkha Regiment posted at Khbupum too assured all possible cooperation towards restoration of peace and tranquillity in the area.
