Plastics production technique programme begins

A four-week programme on production of commodity plastics using injection moulding techniques organised by Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) under the sponsorship of Directorate of Science and Technology, Govt of Manipur was inaugurated today at CIPET, Industrial Estate, Takyelpat.
Rajesh Agarwal, IAS, Commissioner (PowerAgri/Sc&Tech), Manipur inaugurated the programme in the presence of V Tualthang, Additional Director, Directorate of Commerce and Industries; Uttamchand Laishram, Director DST and VS Gupta, Dy GM, NABARD and other Govt officials.
Giving the key-note address, Chief Manager (P), CIPET highlighted the importance of plastics as substitute for metal and materials.
A brief presentation about the profile of successful enterpreneurs who have undergone similar training from the centre was also made during the function.
Speaking as the chief guest, Rajesh Agarwal enlightened the gatherings on enterpreneurship as a career option.
He said that people who are willing to serve the public may enter Govt service.
For those who are ambitious and capable of risk taking may take up enterpreneurship as a full time profession as there is no limit for an enterpreneur to grow.
Rajesh also specifically stressed the viability of setting up of small and medium sized industrial units particularly in plastics sector to cater the needs of local consumers of the State for plastic items which are currently brought in from other States.
He further pointed out that Brahmaputra Gas Crackers project in Assam which is nearing completion will provide plethora of opportunities in the plastics sector in the downstream industries whereby plastics raw materials will be made readily available for further exploitation of the project in the region.
Other dignitaries who shared the dais during the function expressed their views on the prospects of entrepreneurship as the new generation has more opportunities and supports from various quarters such as financial institutions for requirement of capital, State Govt for providing industrial sheds and land and Govt agencies/institutions for providing training and other support service for marketing of their product are available.
