Rollback fare hike call sends autos off road

Following the calls made by several student bodies of the State to roll back the hike in passenger fares during the height of COVID-19 pandemic, the Diesel Auto Rickshaws in Churachandpur have ceased service beginning noon today as they claimed it might create rift with passengers.
The Joint Student Body, Churachandpur comprising ZSF-GHQ, KSO/CCpur, HSA Jt HQ and MZP-Manipur have raised concerns regarding the 'undue fare hike' by passenger service providers within Churachandpur district.
They claimed that this disproportionate fare hike cannot be allowed as it severely impacts and causes immense inconveniences to college students and the public who are reeling under food inflation.
The Joint Student Body appealed to all the public transport service providers to roll back the hike and resume their services at normal rates with effect from February 1.They also urged the department concerned to look into the matter and ensure passenger service providers to resume their service at normal rates.
The Joint Student Body, Churachandpur further stated that the student body would be compelled to take up action in conformity with the democratic principles to ensure the aspirations of the college students and the public of Churachandpur district are upheld.
It may also be mentioned that several diesel auto associations today held an emergency meeting and decided to stay off road from 11 am till 6 pm stating that it could lead to unwanted dispute with the passengers.
