Imphal, July 28 2009:
Naga scholar Kaka D.Iralu said that over 80% of the Nagas are genuinely carrying on the Naga movement and mostly these Nagas are in the rural areas.
He said, however, that the few educated Nagas with arms using money power are creating "some difficulties".
Talking at the Manipur University today in Imphal on the seminar christened as 'The Indo-Naga conflict, Kaka Iralu said that the Naga freedom movement is never a secessionist movement but a struggle or a commitment to defend the Nagas' land.
The Naga scholar then said, "We shall be what we are.
Otherwise we will be a liar".
Talking on the regional front, Kaka D Iralu said that the various ethnic groups in the Northeast region are inter-connected and have the same origin.
"So let us develop together and understand each others' problem," he appealed.
He also underlined the need to build up understanding among the Naga neighbours.
Kaka D.Iralu was accompanied by some social workers from Nagaland including Eastern Naga Peoples Organisation (ENPO) general secretary Toshi.
Toshi also deliberated and presented his views on the Naga movement.
