State police force fired several rounds of tear gas shells to disperse angry protestors who had squatted in front of the MU Gate to protest the demise of a 43 year old man whose house was among those structures pulled down by State authorities during the October 22 eviction drive at near the MU Campus.
A middle aged man (reportedly passed away due to heart complications today.
The deceased person identified as Okram Ashok s/o (L) Leiranjao was taking refuge at the nearby Heijiga Keithel along with several other displaced persons ever since the eviction drive.
According to the deceased�s family members, Ashok had no repentance at being evicted but was routinely complaining that State authorities should have atleast provided some time to find an alternative place to resettle.
Ashok was rushed to RIMS Hospital following a strong heart seizure at around 3 am today and succumbed four hours later.
