Imphal, November 18:
Announcing the boycott of the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on November 20, the proscribed RPF today said that it will impose a 24 hour curfew from 12 am of November 20.In a statement issued to the press today, the outfit said that the people have nothing to expect from the visit of the Prime Minister of India and added that ever since Manipur merged with the Indian Union 55 years back, the people have been subjected to various forms of atrocities and excesses committed by its security personnel.
The statement questioned what India has done to deliver justice to the numerous victims like Manorama who were killed and maimed by the security personnel under the immunity granted by Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Has India ever listened to the democratic voices of the people of Manipur, it asked.
The outfit also noted that in Kashmir, a large number of troops were withdrawn ahead of the visit of the Prime Minister to send out the message of concern but here in Manipur instead of doing that, the Indian Government has pumped in more security personnel for Operation All Clear.
The visit of the Prime Minister is nothing but to over see the military action and to hoist the flag of Operation All Clear, added the statement.
The oft repeated offer for talk is nothing but lip service, charged RPF and added that Delhi has the least concern for the people of Manipur.
Even today Sharmila is on a fast unto death agitation against AFSPA.
Pebam Chittaranjan committed self immolation but till today the Indian Government is silent on the matter.
RPF further asked why the killers of Manorama are still being shielded.
Taking strong exception to the accusations hurled against it for the bomb blast in front of Kangla on the eve of Ningol Chakkouba, the statement said that the attempt to drag in the name of the PLA to the incident was nothing but false propaganda.
Though everyone knows that the bomb blast was the handiwork of the security personnel, misleading report was fed to Reuters where the finger of suspicion was pointed towards the PLA.
The outfit asked what the Government has done for those hurt and injured in the bomb blast.
