Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today announced that the memorial place of martyred Bir Tikendrajit located at Hicham yaichampat, Moirangkhom will be developed as a historical site from December this year.
The Chief Minister made this announcement at the sideline of spot inspections at Govindajee Temple and Hicham Yaichampat in connection with the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Manipur starting on November 20.The CM conducted the inspections in the company of his senior ministerial colleagues that included Art and Culture Minister Ph Parijat, Information Minister Gaikhangam and IFC Minister Phungzathang Tonsing.
Talking to some media-persons, Ibobi informed that under the supervision of State Government's Art and Culture Department, the Moirangkhom memorial site will be developed in the line of Delhi�s Rajghat with necessary local adjustments, work activities for which will begin before the year ends.
Seriously noting the diminishing space of the memorial site compared to the past record, the CM asserted that necessary official process would begin soon to restore the original size of the said plot of land.
At Palace Compound, the Ministerial team assessed the conditions of the building where the former King of Manipur lived besides inspecting Chonga Bon and the Durbar hall.
Ibobi also discussed with his ministerial colleagues on taking posse- ssion of the Durbar hall by the Art and Culture Dept to repair and protect the historical structure.
They also inspected ongoing works at the proposed Culture Complex located within Palace Compound and at the Capitol Project site in addition to the Ministerial cavalcade making a tour along MU Convocation venue and Airport road which is among the Prime Minister�s itinerary.
