Imphal, May 17 2012:
The Manipuri Students' Federation, in their continuous effort of improving education in the state, visited schools of Kasom Khulen sub-division in Ukhrul District under their academic campaign "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi" on May 15 .
The team of 8 was led by MSF president, Lg Milan.
The Federation distributed schools books to the students of the area as a part of the campaign at Ksom Khullen High School on May 16 .
According to a statement of MSF, the findings of the inspection showed the sorry state of the schools.
The inspecting team had also noticed that school buildings were not constructed under the SSA.
In a baffling finding some schools did not have seperate toilets for boys and girls.
MSF asserted that they suspected foul play as the provisions provided by the Indian Government for education has not been utilised properly.
In the old Kasom Khulen Government High School there were only 8 teachers.
Due to the lack of teachers educated village youths have been teaching the students.
The Villagers have also told them that some students stopped attending school due to lack of teachers.
Drawing the attention of the Government to look into the matter of sorry state of affairs in school in remote areas, the MSF observed that insincerety of officials from the highest level to the lowest is one factor responsible for the sorry state of affairs of the education department.
MSF slammed the State Government and the education department for ignoring the education scenario in various districts, and accused them of trying to snub education in the State.
They appealed to the Government to take up the issue and ensure a fair education system.
