2021 sees new peak with 259 positive cases, 2 deaths

Imphal, April 28 2021:
Amid the emerging second wave of COVID-19, the number of daily fresh infections has jumped by 48 percent from yesterday as the State recorded 259 positive cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours.
The death toll due to the disease has touched 395 .
The Government COVID-19 Common Control Room had yesterday reported 175 fresh infections and three casualties due to the disease.
With the latest 259 fresh infections, the number of active cases has surged to reach 1,230 .
The number of positive cases reached has reached 31,001 while the total number of recovered cases has touched 29,376 with a recovery rate of 94.75 percent.
So far, 1,47,012 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 .
As per the COVID-19 Common Control Room, the latest victims of the COVID-19 were a 76-year-old man from Imphal East and a 52-year-old man from Imphal West district.
They expired at JNIMS and RIMS respectively.
Meanwhile, the 259 fresh infections include seven personnel of the Central Armed Police Force and the rest 252 are from among the general population.
The positive cases (259) including CAPF were detected at testing facilities at JNIMS (57), Babina Diagnostics (51), Imphal West (22), Raj Medicity (22), Bishnupur (16), Escent Diagnostics (15), Shija Hospital (14), Imphal East (9), RIMS (8), Churachandpur (7), Kakching (6), Maipakpi (5), RD Wing (4), Ukhrul (4), Chamber Hospital (3), Hillside (3), Thoubal (3), Advanced Hospital (2), Chandel (2), CMC (2), Peace Hospital (1), Jivan Hospital (1), IRL TN (1) and Jiribam (1) .
A major chunk of the people (general population) who tested positive for coronavirus hail from the two districts in the Capital city.
The 252 cases from the general population include 94 from Imphal West and 76 from Imphal East district.
The remaining people hail from Churachandpur (27), Bishnupur (20), Thoubal (11), Kakching (7), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (4), Kangpokpi (3), Chandel (2), Jiribam (1) and Tengnoupal (1) .
The last 24 hours also saw 59 recovered from the disease.
While 47 of them recovered under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from SHRI (7), Raj Medicity (2) and RIMS (3), said the Government COVID-19 report.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 31,001 (general population 27,467 and Central security personnel 3,534).The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,376 (general population 25,928 and Central security personnel 3,448) .
The number of active cases is 1,230 (general population 1,148 and Central security personnel 82).On the other hand, the COVID-19 Common Control Room has informed air passengers who arrived here on April 25 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 to report to the control room at (18003453818) or their respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
37 air passengers were tested at BT Airport in the last 24 hours and none were found positive.
