Killing of PHED care taker and son; 4 KCP (KM) men surrender

Four cadres of KCP (Kesho Meitei) who were allegedly involved in the abduction and subsequent killing of Soram Ibomcha, care-taker of Irilbung Water Supply and his son Yaiphu have surrendered to the Imphal East police station today.
Speaking to the press at the Imphal East police headquarters today afternoon, DIG Clay Khongsai who is also in-charge as district SP informed that the cadres surrendered to the police headquarters during the last few days.
The surrendered cadres were identified as Takhellambam Jiban (38) s/o T Tomba, Takhellambam Sakhenba (26) s/o T Manglemba, Landham Radhabinod (28) s/o L Ibobi, all from Sandrok Mamang Leikai, and Keisham Tenden (27) alias Roshan s/o K Kulabidhu of Sandrok Awang Leikai.

DIG Khongsai informed that Jiban surrendered on December 23, Sakhenba and Radhabinod on December 24 while Tenden followed their path today.
Mentioning that Jiban and Sakhenba are cousin brothers, Khongsai further informed that one Romi (28) alias Romeo alias Kiran s/o Ibobi alias Rajen from Sandrok Mamang Laikai who was mainly involved in the killing is yet to be arrested.
He also informed that the police department had received the information of the incident on December 9, even though the duo was abducted on December 7 .
Quoting as "unfortunate" for not providing information to the police by the family members of Ibomcha and department concerned, Khongsai asserted that police were searching for the abducted duo silently fearing their safety in case the search operations were made public.
Based on reliable sources, on December 21, after the duo was found dead, police launched an operation at Chanam Sandrok area where no suspected persons were captured, he added.
He mentioned that as a result of the constant efforts made by the police, the cadres surrendered during the last few days and were arrested formally.
In addition to this, Khongsai informed the press that Laishram Ranbir (40) from Uchiwa Awang Leikai, who was killed in a police encounter at Narankonjil in the night of December 20, was also involved in the killing of the duo.
Investigation process over the surrendered cadres is going on and detailed information would be available soon, he added.
