Manipur joined the nation in paying rich tributes to the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in repulsing attack by the Pakistani military on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The observance function hosted by the Government of Manipur was held today at Bir Tikendrajit park this morning with the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh leading in offering floral tributes to the martyred Indian soldiers.
Among others Health Minister L Jayantakumar, IFC Minister N Biren, PDA Chairman Dr Kh Loken, State Planning Board Deputy chairman Bijoy Koijam, chief Secretary DS Poonia, DGP Y Joykumar and top officials of the Army and Assam Rifles were also present at the occasion.
In addition to offering of floral tributes, general salute and guard of honour by Manipur Rifles personnel and presentation of patriotic song by artistes of Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Government Music College were the other highlight of the observance that commenced at the historic venue from 8.45 am onward.
In his address at the solemn occasion, chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said every Indian citizens are indebted to the supreme sacrifices made by a number of soldiers of the Indian army in safeguarding the country against the stealthy invasion by the Pakistani military.

He also pointed out that observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas is in honour of the martyred soldiers who laid down their lives on this day in 1999 during the course of Operation Vijay in the Kargil sector.
Acknowledging sacrificial spirit of the Indian soldiers, O Ibobi also said demise of seven Army personnel hailing of Manipur testify audacity and dedicated service rendered by the State natives for the protection of India's sovereignty against all adversary elements.
The CM also called upon the people of Manipur to renew pledge for protection of the country.
