Imphal-Mao highway cut-off

Imphal, July 26 2011:
National Highway 39 which was known as NH 2 in the recent time has been cut off once again near Maram Bazar,80 km north of the Manipur state capital after the landslide measuring around 15 feet below the Assam Rifles area following the incessant rain,reports reaching here said.
More than 250 goods laden trucks coming from Dimapur side were stranded from Maram bazar onwards while another 100 vehicles mostly empty trucks were stranded on the other side of the highway beginning from Maram side towards Imphal.The Locals of the Maram bazar has demanded immediate re-connection of the state's life line by sending in additional route clearing manpowers against the existing single JCB.The area has been a landslide prone area since the last few years.
