Fair poll campaign by All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO)

As had been already announced, All Manipur Christian Organisation AMCO) began its campaign for fair elections in the hill districts by organising the fourth pastors' advocacy meeting at Senapati district headquarters today.
The AMCO endeavour is to prevail upon pastors and Church leaders in the State to remain neutral at the time of elections.
Speaking at the senapati session, AMCO president Rev Prim Vaiphei reminded all concerned that as one of the most powerful institutions for the Christians, pastors and Church leaders need to act in an impartial manner.
Stating that Church leaders should not intefere in any related issues inspiteof threats or intimidations from several quarters including armed groups, Prim Vaiphei also clarified that AMCO as umbrella body of all the Christian organisations of the State is a non-political organisation.
In any Church leader is found indulging in poll malpractices or being influenced by any political party, the respective Church would take action against the defaulters, he cautioned while announcing that similar campaigns would be held in Ukhrul district headquarters on August 9 followed by Churachandpur, Moreh, Chakpikarong, Litan and Pallel in subsequent days.
Out of the 60 legislators in the State 20 are from the hill districts.
