Condemnations against racial attacks pour in

The Manipur People's Party (MPP), National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) and Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) have vehemently condemned the racial attacks on NE people in mainland India including the recent killing of a Ph D scholar from the State at Delhi and the brutal assault of a State boy at Bangalore.
Lamenting such attacks on the people of the State in mainland Indian cities persist, a statement issued by NIPCO said that people of NE States will take a tough stand if the President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister cannot assure to provide protection to North East people in mainland India.
NIPCO also questioned the steps taken by the authority concerned against the arrested culprits involved in such attacks so far.
It further rued that mainland Indian cities have become the graveyard of NE people, who are victims of racial discrimination.

In a statement, DESAM that killings and assaults of North East people in mainland India have seen a marked increase in the last few years and the authority concerned should immediately take up steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
MPP in a statement said it is high time for the State Govt to mount pressure on the Centre against such attacks in mainland Indian cities including the National capital.
The All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) led by Muan Tombing said it is perturbed to witness the rampant murders of North East students in Delhi and other metropolitan cities.
According to the ATSUM, the Central Government has been reminded to take up stringent measures to put to an end to discrimination and violence against people from the North Eastern region.
"Like Mizoram, the Manipur State legislative Assembly should also pass a resolution to stop rampant attack, murder, rape and molestation against the N.E region students who are scattered in every part of India," ATSUM stated.
Strongly condemning the third such incident in the last 48 hours particularly the mysterious murder of a 33 year old PhD scholar late Zingran Kashung Kengoo in south Delhi's Kotla Mabarakpur area, ATSUM urged the Centre to probe the case and award befitting punishment to the murderer/s according to the nature of the crime.
"The Government of Manipur should also initiate steps for immediate intervention pertaining to racial discrimination and frequent murder on North East people in the capital and mainland India," ATSUM stated.
While regretting the loss of an intellectual from the soil of Manipur, the student body expressed its profound grief to the bereaved family of late Zingran K.Kengoo.
