The National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) and Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur(DESAM) strongly condemned the recent incident in which Zingran Kengoo, a PhD scholar from Ukhrul district was found dead with his throat slit inside his room at Kotla Mubarakpur in New Delhi, said a release today.
These organizations expressed that the capital city had become a graveyard of the students from the north east and also demanded an immediate attention of the Central Government over the issue of escalating crime rates of abuse, rape and murder of the people of this region.
They further urged that despite the fact that racial discrimination by the people of the mainland India upon the northeasterners has increased in an alarming rate in the recent years, the Central government had failed to provide security measures of these students, reported the release.
Meanwhile the Manipur Peoples' Party also expressed strong condemnation of the killing of Zingran Kengoo observing that it is an act of racial discrimination blaming the government that these crimes against the minority groups will be subdued with time without any judicious legal action against those involved, reported the release.
