Imphal, November 22 2014 :
The United Golapati Hatta Development Council has urged the Government to repair and black top the road connecting Minuthong to Sanjenthong via Hatta-Golapati.
Speaking to media persons at Hatta-Golapati today, the council's general secretary Arafat Ali alleged that the road connecting Minuthong to Sanjenthong via Hatta-Golapati has not been repaired since a long time back.
More than one lakh people of Hatta-Golapati have been bearing this inconvenience for many years.
It becomes quite muddy and slippery during rainy season and during dry season, the road churns out of volumes of dust, Arafat said.
As Sanjenthong bridge is under construction, more and more people are taking Minuthong bridge as an alternative route implying more vehicles are plying on Hatta-Golapati road.
Many of the visitors to Manipur Sangai Festival are also taking this route.
As such, the State Government and the local MLA should ensure that the 2 Km long road is black topped before the ongoing Sangai Festival is over otherwise the United Hatta Golapati Development Council would be constrained to launch all sorts of agitation, Arafat said.
He also conveyed that they submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on November 21 seeking proper maintenance of the road.
