6 new cases reported in last 24 hours

Imphal, April 17 2022:
The State reported 6 new COVID-19 cases and no Covid related fatalities during the last 24 hours taking the cumulative number of positive cases to 1,37,196 .
The 6 cases were reported from Imphal East (1), Imphal West (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2) and Kakching (1) .
As the 6 cases were found positive out of 227 samples tested at various testing centres across the State, the daily positive rate stood at 2.6 percent, a .5 percent increase from yesterday, as per a press release signed by Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and Spokesperson, Health Department.
As no Covid related fatalities were reported during the last 24 hours, the cumulative death toll still stands at 2120 .
No individuals were discharged from any Covid care facilities today.
The State still has 57 active cases of Covid, all from the general population.
There are 189 and 299 vacant beds at Covid dedicated wards opened at RIMS and JNIMS respectively and any Covid patient seeking admission can contact RIMS at 7005237591 and JNIMS at 8837342527, added the press release.
902 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered on April 16 taking the cumulative doses administered so far to 28,12,421 including 15,49,841 first dose, 11,92,375 second dose and 70,205 precautionary dose.
With this the State has vaccinated 50.93 percent of the eligible population with both the dose of COVID-19 vaccines while the percent of population who have received the first dose has reached 61.61 percent.
Kangpokpi (16.67 percent), Ukhrul (23.86 percent) and Kamjong (28.05 percent) continue to be the worst performing districts in terms of 2nd dose vaccination.
