Academic activities crippled in Manipur University following resignation of 5 Deans

Academic activities in Manipur University have been totally crippled with five more deans resigning from the post after the resignation of the dean of Student Welfare Khumukcham Tomba Singh.
VC's unequivocal manners and unwillingness to listen suggestions from Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) has prompted the teachers' community to proceed with series of agitation.
Five more deans of academic affairs - Prof.Rajmuhon, Dean School of Mathematical And Physical Science, Prof.Loken, Dean School of Social Science, Prof.Shantibala, Dean School of Life Sciences, Prof.Arun Shaxena - Dean School Of Human and Environment Science and Prof.Yasawanta, Dean School Of Humanities tender their resignation yesterday.
Following the resignation academic atmosphere has been severely affected.
It is likely that the Vice Chancellor silence over the matter will now prompted more series issues in the Manipur University.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Manipur, who is also the Chief Rector of the Manipur University has reportedly invited the representatives of the Manipur University Students' Union to talk over the issue .
A source from the MUSU said that the intimidation came through phone calls and the students' body did not give positive response to the Governor ' invitation.
Following the resignation the committee formed by the VC which comprises of Prof..WVishwanath Singh, Senior most Professor, Prof..NRajmuhon Singh, Dean, School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences, Prof..NLokendra Singh, Dean, School of Social Sciences, Prof.Th.Ratankumar Singh, Director CDC, Prof.RK.
Hemakumar Singh, Principal (i/c) MIT, and Prof..MShyamkesho Singh, Registrar (i/c) is likely to abolish , however , no official report is being received regarding the matter.
Invitation from the committee had been rejected by the MUSU, standing firm to their demand for the removal of the MU Vice Chancellor Prof.AP Pandey .
It may be mentioned that a general body meeting, the MUTA on June 4 had resolved to urge the Vice Chancellor to clarify in public the allegations levelled against him, besides requesting him to bring an amicable solution to the present crisis in Manipur University at the earliest.
After VC failed to response to the resolution adopted by the MUTA another emergency meeting convened on June 9, denounced the VC for giving no respect to the teachers' body.
A resolution was resolved to stage protest and subsequently MUTA staged a sit-in-protest on June 11 .
Other resolution adopted in today's emergency general body meeting included appraising of the current development in the University to the Visitor, Chancellor, Chief Rector and the Ministry of Human resource.
The meeting however expressed appreciation to the Governor of Manipur Dr.Najma Heptulla, Who is also the Chief Rector of the University in her initiative to bringing an amicable solution to the present impasse.
