Amid tight security on I-Day eve ; Bomb blast rocks Imphal near CCC

Imphal, August 14 2013:
Barely three days after a blast was triggered at the gate of the Chief Minister's Bungalow amidst tightened security measure ahead of the Independence Day celebration, a powerful bomb exploded on I-Day's eve in front of City Convention Centre at Konung Lampak in Imphal East.
However, no casualty has been reported.
Reports culled from the spot said that a powerful explosive planted near the foot path in front of City Convention Centre exploded this evening around 6.15 .
The blast occurred a few metres north of the main gate of the Centre.
It may be recalled that the militant group PREPAK (Pro) had triggered a blast near the gate of the CM's Bungalow just three days back on Aug 10 .

One and a half foot wide crater with a depth of a half feet was created by the blast this evening.
Meanwhile, DIG Clay Khongsai and SP (Imphal East) Kamei Angam Romanus rushed to the spot immediately after the incident to take stock of the situation.
No group or individual has claimed hands in the blast so far.
The spot where the blast occurred is opposite to the MFDC Hall and a few metres away from AIR Imphal Station.
It may be mentioned that the Coordinating Committee (CorCOm) of seven militant groups of the State along with several other outfits of the NE has been boycotting Independence Day celebration.
The militant outfits have also called a general strike on Independence Day.
Ahead of the I-Day celebration, security measures have been tightened in the State since few days back.
