188 new cases, 2 more deaths recorded in last 24 hours
Vaccinations low in hill dists : Kpi, Ukl come at bottom

As in the rest of the country, the number of fresh infections has been staying at the lower side for the past few days but number of deaths continue, with Manipur logging a total of 188 new cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours.
The infection rate has decreased, but there has been no perceptible change in the rate of vaccination with some hill districts continuing to languish at the bottom of the inoculation table.
Kangpokpi continues to remain the district with the least number of vaccination with just 14.54 percent of the total eligible people being fully vaccination (first and second dose) while only 21.71 percent of the population have received the first jab.
Ukhrul is another district of concern as only 20.41 percent of the eligible population have received the second dose and 29.59 percent the first dose.
Kamjong continues to be sluggish with only 24.16 percent receiving the second jab and 36.03 the first dose.
Senapati is no better off with only 26.92 percent of the population having received the second jab and 34.52 the first dose.
Save for Chandel, all the other hill districts continue to score very poor with the second jab not covering 50 percent of the eligible population.
The overall vaccination rate in Manipur stands at 46.38 percent (second dose) and 59.80 percent (first dose), with 9826 people receiving the vaccination on February 8 .
The cumulative doses administered so far is 25,98,426 (1st dose 14,69,590, 2nd dose 10,85,648 and precautionary dose 43,188) .
Even as Manipur continues to score poorly on the vaccination chart, the daily positivity rate continues to be high at 8.4 percent as 188 people returned positive results out of 2244 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Manipur also recorded two deaths in the last 24 hours, to keep the death chart ticking upwards.
The deceased persons were from Imphal East and Ukhrul to take the cumulative number of deaths due to the virus to 2074 .
While one had received the second dose of the vaccine, the other had received the first dose.
Both were suffering from co-morbidities, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room, quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The 188 fresh cases include two Central security personnel and with the new addition, the total number of positive cases registered in the State has gone up to 1,35,358 including 4991 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 3555 inclusive of 108 Central security personnel.
The 186 new cases from amongst the civilians are from Imphal East (50), Imphal West (61), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (17), Kakching (9), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (2), Ukhrul (8), Noney (2), Senapati (4), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (10) .
On the other hand 235 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (181), RIMS (11), JNIMS (9) and CCCs (34) to take the recovery rate to 95.84 percent.
The total number of recovered cases is 1,29,729 including 4876 Central security personnel.
At JNIMS out of a total beds of 300, the number of vacant beds is 237 and at RIMS it is 122 out of a total of 190 beds.
