Covid-19 active cases drop to 366

Imphal, December 03 2021: Following recovery of 45 persons from Covid-19 who have been discharged from home isolation (4), RIMS (2), JNIMS (13) and CCCs (26), coupled with 279 other people who have been reported as discharged cases only today, the total number of Covid-19 active cases in the State has dropped to 366 (general population 312 and Central security personnel 54).Till Thursday, there were 663 Covid-19 active cases in the State.

However, one more individual died of the pandemic during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1980.According to a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the latest victim belonged to Thoubal, had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated.

In the meantime, 28 persons were confirmed positive at RIMS (3), JNIMS (1) and other testing centres 24 out of 1,794 samples tested for Covid-19 which puts the daily positivity rate at 1.6 per cent.

Today's positivity rate is considerably lower than yesterday's positivity rate of 2.2 per cent.

The 28 positive cases belong to Imphal East (5), Imphal West (17), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (3) .

Churachandpur recorded the highest positivity rate at 5.7 per cent followed by Imphal West 2.9 per cent and Bishnupur 2.2 per cent.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,297 (general population 1,20,866 and Central security personnel 4,431).It includes 1,22,951 recovered cases (general population 1,18,579 and Central security personnel 4,372).The recovery rate as on Friday is 98.13 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 488 D-type oxygen cylinders and 67 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.

The cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 21,75,817 (first dose 12,86,251 and second dose 8,89,566) .

It includes 7588 doses administered yesterday.

Till December 2, 65.34 per cent of the State's total population had been given the first dose of Covid vaccine while 45.19 per cent had received both the first and second doses.

Even though two cases of infection by the Omicron variant had been already confirmed in Karnataka, the new variant has not been detected in the State so far.
