COVID-19 claims 3 more lives taking total to 4

Barely 24 hours after Manipur witnessed its first casualty due to COVID-19, three more COVID-19 patients have succumbed to the virus taking the total number of COVID-19 fatality to four in the State.
Significantly the body of the first victim who passed away on July 29 is yet to be cremated till the time of filing this report late in the evening.
Sources informed that a 48 year old man from Leimakhong, Kangpokpi district died of COVID-19 at RIMS at around 2.30 am today followed by a 47 year old man from Langol.
Both the deceased were kidney patients and were undergoing dialysis.
While the man from Leimakhong was confirmed COVID-19 positive on July 26, the man from Saikul who was staying at Langol was found positive for the contagion only this morning.
The man staying at Langol was brought to Shija Hospital for dialysis yesterday.
Technicians of Babina Diagnostics Centre came to Shija Hospital and colleted his sample for COVID-19 test.
Even as the man went back home from Shija Hospital after dialysis yesterday, he was found positive for COVID-19 today.
As he had medical complaints, he was brought to RIMS today but succumbed to the medical problems at around 10.30 am.
Bodies of both the deceased would be handed over to the Kangpokpi DC for performing last rites.
On the other hand, a 60 year old man from Thoubal Moijing who showed symptoms of COVID-19 died in the casualty ward of JNIMS at 4.55 pm today.
He was found positive for COVID-19 only after he had expired, said the sources.
Another 15 with no travel history test positive : The State's COVID-19 tally has reached 2,505 with 47 persons, including 18 security personnel testing positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, said a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Significantly out of the total in the last 24 hours 15 people have no travel history.
The State now has 829 active cases and 1672 recovered cases.
The recovery rate now stands at 66.90 per cent.
The 47, who tested COVID-19 positive include 37 males and 10 females.
They tested positive at RIMS (4 cases), JNIMS (30), Shija Hospital (5), Babina Diagnostics (3), Imphal West RAT (3) and Churachandpur (2) .
They belong to Imphal East (14), Imphal West (13), Senapati (10), Churachandpur (5), Kangpokpi (2), Thoubal (2) and Tengnoupal (1) .
Notably the two cases from Thoubal and 13 from Imphal West have no travel history while the remaining cases are returnees, said the report.
Meanwhile, 19 persons were discharged from JNIMS (4), COVID-19 Care Centres of Meitram (2), Ukhrul (3), Kakching (2), Kamjong (1) and RD Wing (7) .
They tested negative for the virus on RT PCR test, said the report.
Following detection of COVID-19 cases in Imphal West, the district administration has sealed several places and declared them as containment zones.
The containment zones include areas of Langol Housing Complex, Hotel Padma in Thangal bazar, Internee Hostel RIMS and Hiyangthang bazar.
Portions of Langol Housing Complex were sealed off after two residents of B-Type II Quarter tested COVID-19 positive.
Hotel Padma and portions of Thangal bazar were sealed after one who was under quarantine at the hotel tested positive.
Internee Hostel of RIMS was sealed after a resident tested positive.
Areas in Hiyangthang bazar were also sealed after one resident tested positive, said separate orders of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West.
