Husband accused of killing wife, held

CCpur, July 30 2020:
A 34 yer old man has been picked up by police for allegedly murdering his wife and leaving the body by the roadside near Muallum village under Singngat PS.
The deceased person has been identified as Niangtuahkim (28), wife of Sianmuansang (34), of Zion Veng, New Lamka, Churachandpur.
A source from CCpur Police said they were informed about a dead body around 8 am following which personnel from Singngat PS rushed to the spot.
An FIR was registered at around 9 am in receipt of a written report from Singngat PS .
But the case was referred to Women PS Churachandpur as the victim was a woman.
Accordingly the Additional SP (IUCAW) & OC of Women PS rushed to the spot, cordoned off and secured the crime scene.
Later at around 10.30 am, SDPO, Churachandpur along with a Mobile Forensic team arrived at the scene wherein they collected crucial evidence.
The police who immediately mounted an investigation on the basis of the chain of events collected from multiple sources soon presented the material evidence before the husband.
When cornered with evidence, he was unable to answer the questions raised and ultimately admitted to his crime of having killed his wife, the source contended.
The husband was immediately arrested in the presence of witnesses and later handed over to Women PS, CCP.
The police said further investigation is on to find out the motive behind the crime.
It also claimed that the woman's body was picked up by a team of women police observing all due respect and kept in District Hospital Morgue, Churachandpur for conducting an autopsy tomorrow.
In an unrelated development, the district police today disposed six baskets of betel leaves they seized last night under the supervision of Amrita Sinha, SP-CCpur.
The betel leaves were burnt in the presence of the media.
