Governor SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have greeted the people of specially the Christian community on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
Taking the opportunity, the Governor also appealed to the underground organisations to shun violence and join the mainstream.
In his message to the people, the Governor said that Lord Jesus, the son of God, was born to rebuild a new world order based on justice and equality of mankind.
His message of love, mercy, forgiveness, compassion and sacrifice has become increasingly important at the present juncture, when the atmosphere is marred by social tensions, conflicts and terrorism.
"In celebrating Christmas, we have to re-dedicate ourselves to the ideals, principals and eternal values espoused by Him.
Let the principles upheld by Him guide mankind to build a more prosperous society and peaceful world based on live and let live, forget and forgive� said Sidhu.
Appealing to the insurgent groups in Manipur to give up violence as a means of achieving gaols, the Governor observed that the dissatisfied groups of our people are our brethren.
They should express their views and aspiration through non-violent and democratic means.
Conveying his Christmas greetings to the people, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said that in birth of Lord Jesus, the world was blessed with the message of love and merry.
Every person who believes in God irrespective of caste, creed and religion should be a messenger of peace, goodwill and love.
