This was followed by a march past competition participated by a large number of contingents formed by students, women organisations, musical bands and other bodies.
All the march past contingents paid salutes to the statue of Hijam Irabot.
Later a public meeting was held at Lamyanba Shanglen in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the late leader where CPI veteran leader M Ibohal, ICC chairman N Mangi, CPI State secretary Dr M Nara, AIR senior newscaster A Kamson and Kuki Inpi Manipur president Thangkhosei Haokip were seated on the dais.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Nara categorically stated that there is no question of CPI claiming Irabot as their own.
It is rather appreciable that more and more people have realised and acknowledged the exploits and sacrifices made by Irabot for the cause of the nation, particularly the oppressed mass.
Instead of clinging to parochial and communal outlook which is pushing the society to a chaotic situation, it's time for all the people to study and analyse the ideals of Irabot and walk on his foot print.
It is heartening to note that increasing number of people have realised the contribution of Irabot and his leadership towards making Manipur a progressive society where there is no form of oppression or repression, Dr Nara asserted.
