New Delhi, September 30 2013:
Even as the next hearing in the case of (L) Reingamphi, who was allegedly raped and murdered in her rented room in Chirag Delhi in May this year has been fixed for October 10, counsel for the petitioner Advocate Ami Shukla today said "It was a mysterious case" .
A case over the suspicious death of Reingamphi was filed at the Delhi High Court last month.
In the initial investigation, the police went to the room of the deceased but the crime room was not sealed, nor any footprints/ fingerprints or other evidences/records were taken, said Advocate Ami Shukla , the counsel for the petitioner at a press conference today in New Delhi.
"It is a mysterious case," said the counsel.
In reply to the notice served by the High Court, the respondent, Delhi police crime branch argued that there is no history of crime committed by the accused (the house owner and his brother in law, a frequent visitor to the house) .
While two post mortem examinations were conducted at AIIMS and Maulana Azad Hospital which did not show much results, the forensic report of the viscera and histopathology report done in Hyderabad shows the absences of drugs or poison in her body, told the petitioners' counsel to reporters here today.
The counsel further revealed that human semen was found on her torn inner wear, which is yet to be investigated and cross examined.
"We are appealing for an independent CBI inquiry," said Shukla.
The petitioner, Chirmayo, a cousin of the deceased stated that (L) Reingamphi was stalked by the owner and his brother-in-law of her rented room, which he had also personally tried to intervene at one point of time.
The case was admitted on August 8 at the Delhi High Court and the next hearing is fixed for October 10 .
