UBC-Youth's campaign for a clean Ukhrul town

Imphal, September 30 2013:
The 'Ukhrul Town Beautification Campaign', an initiative of UBC-Youth, has been going on successfully along with active participation of many young boys and girls since September 27 .
So far, the well-planned campaign has covered most visited public places from the Mini Secretariat to Gandhi Avenue.
The campaign will continue till 2nd of October, 2013 .
Encouraging the young campaigners and appreciating their efforts to keep the town neat and clean, Dr.Shailesh Kr.
Chourasia,IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, said, "We have had many seminars and talking, it is time for us to act" .
"Roads are the images of this town, and we will be referred to by its appearance," he said.
The enthusiastic young volunteers braved the rain while cleaning drainages and picking up plastics and distributing pamphlets to the passersby, which pointed out few practical steps one can adopt like taking a handbag/reusable bag while shopping, turning off lights and equipments when not in use, maintaining dustbin, re-using wrapping papers, bows and gift boxes, managing drainage properly, etc.
Worshang Hungyo,IAS, SDO of Ukhrul also visited during the cleanup at Mini Secretariat area and extended his support to the initiatives of UBC-Youth.
