Retd Judge Ch Upendra passes away

Retired District and Sessions Judge Chanambam Upendra died in a tragic accident this morning.
He was 85.According to information received from family members, C Upendra got electrocuted at around 5.40 am at his Sagolband Moirang Leirak residence .
Even though he was immediately rushed to RIMS, doctors declared him dead at 6.30 am.
He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
Ch Upendra was born to Ch Ibomcha and Laishram (N) Maipakpi on September 19, 1929 .
He completed his high school education from Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
After obtaining MA (Political Science) degree from Calcutta University, he completed LLM too.
He started practising law as an advocate from 1960 and he retired from service as District and Sessions Judge in 1992 .
He headed around 17 enquiry commissions including the one which probed into the outrageous killing of Thangjam Manorama.
Upendra was also the president of the Consumers' Forum at one point of time.
