Indefinite Moirang bandh from Oct 1

As the Govt has allegedly failed to fufil its demands pertaining to the welfare of Moirang, Kege Moirang Apunba Lup (KEMAL), Moirang has announced an indefinite Moirang bandh from 5 am of Oct 1 .
According to a statement issued by the general secretary of KEMAL, M Shantikumar Singh, emergency services like medical, fire, religion, education, electricity and water supply will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
The bandh was earlier announced to be imposed from Sept 20.However, it was deferred following an understanding reached during a meeting held with Moirang AC MLA and DC of Bishnupur, said the statement.
KEMAL has been opposing the move to rename Moirang Sendra as Thanga Sendra.
Improvement of the condition of Moirang PHC, revival of dairy farm and veterinary hospital, renovation of Moirang SDO and SDC office buildings and making them functional, to make the Sub-Treasury office of Moirang functional, early completion of works along Moirang river, to reach PDS items to the public and improvement of Moirang College and schools located within the town are the demands raised by KEMAL.
The bandh will be enforced till the demands are met, it said.
