Imphal, March 21 2010: The GPRN/NSCN (K) celebrated its 30th republic day today with much fanfare at the outfit's Khehoi Designated Camp, which is about 13 kilometres east of dimapur town.

As a part of the Naga Republic Day celebration at today Hebikheu Yeptho Speaker Tatar Hoho (Parliament) of GPRN/NSCN read out the message of President GPRN/NSCN (K) Inno SS Khaplang, in which sacrifices made by all courageous martyrs for the cause of the Naga Nation were recalled.

It is due to their contribution that GPRN/NSCN continue to defend, protect and build their Homeland, the President's message noted.

Conveying warm revolutionary salutation to all compatriots and well wishers of Nagas throughout the world on the occasion, SS Khaplang construing the occasion as an hour of exaltation nevertheless called upon all concerned to introspect, retrospect and rekindle all aspect of the movement.

The message also mentioned that the Naga National movement encountered external elements which infiltrated deep into their social and political structures.

describing the infamous Shillong Accord of 1975 as a thorn to the Naga political structure, the NSCN (K) chief attributed blood-baths witnessed for decades at the behest of the occupational forces as a fallout of the Accord.

Ironically all the signatories survived well into old age and some are still alive while innocent thousands were forced to perish defending Naga Homeland, when a political crime is committed it is not the signatories or the leaders who suffers but it is the nation and its people who became victims, Khaplang noted.

Drawing strength from the creator and through perseverance in sustaining the struggle, it was on March 21, 1980, that Government of the Peoples' Republic of Nagaland was formed to universally declare Naga Nation as a Republic, the message recalled.

It is also mentioned that, today the path has been defined and inspite of precious lives lost during the prolong struggle and emotional sojourn, extreme caution should be taken to ensure another Shillong Accord-like solution is agreed upon which would only aggravate suffering of the people.

No one should play with emotional trade and be slave to it.

The maturity of the 80 years old Nagas political struggle must be held as pivotal force towards any political decision making, it suggested.

The will of the people which is the most powerful force against both external and internal adversities can be very tempting and deceptive.

They shall not rush for mercy but be prepared for a solution that belongs to them.

The message further mentioned that, the landmark event in the history of the Nagas took place on November 22, 2007, at Hiuland.

It was on this day that the Naga unification process began.

The process has been welcomed and the initiative and responsibility shouldered by Chairman Isak Chishi in christening Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) with their agreement highly appreciated.

Through formation of the FNR at a crucial phase of the Naga movement, and following acknowledgement of efforts of the FNR, civil societies, media fraternity and individuals who have managed to reach out to all national workers aggression within the Naga family has been curbed admirably resulting in relative peace in Naga Homeland, the NSCN (K) conceded.

The message further mentioned that, while justifying the history of revolution and people's movement around the world the Naga movement is still enduring forces inimical to wish and aspiration of the Naga society.

Every stumbling block need to be turned into stepping stones for attaining the cherished goal, Khaplang stressed.

It is very clear to every Naga that the eight decade old Naga political struggle will not end with the satisfaction of a class of people or separatists as Naga arms with inalienable political right shall be a formidable force against both India and Myanmar in the movement for Naga sovereignty.

It is also cautioned that, history has taught every individual concerned that past agreement or accord sustained with forced consensus or consent have been counter productive.

Bloodshed and killings beget hatred and animosity which burden future generation.

Reconciliation and peace among the Nagas could carve out a healthy Naga Nation.

Until Nagas reconcile through peaceful means, solution to the Naga Political issue will remain elusive.

The government of India is well aware that any settlement through piece-meal solution will mean political responsibilities of India and Myanmar and Nagas will not rest if the eighty-year old political struggle is redefined in the interest of some individual or a group, Khaplang affirmed.

Khaplang mentioned that, the Naga National struggle is a people-based movement and GPRN is committed to democratically involve all sections people in finding a solution to the Indo-Naga, Myanmar political problems.

Indian government must recognise Naga sovereignty thereby creating conducive atmosphere for political talks rather than counting the years, Khaplang mooted while conveying appreciation to the commitment of Joint Working Group (JWG) in finding an honourable solution to the vexed issue.

Lets Create Nagaland for Christ together and always, he added.

dignitaries present during the Naga Republic Day celebration included the rebel group's Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) N Kitovi Zimomi and Chairman GB and DBS Joint Forum Nagaland K Vikeuto Zhimomi with both advocating on the immediate need for unity amongst the Nagas to pave the was for an early Naga political solutions.

many representatives of civil society organization and Naga leaders like Kaka D Eralu also spoke on the origin and present status of the Nagas.

Unlike, celebration in previous years the 30th Naga Republic Day Celebration by the GPRN, NSCN (K) at Khehoi camp was made more meaningful with the total participation of the mass and leaders of different Naga tribes.

Earlier, the celebration began with the reception of the chief guest and other dignitaries and by the organizing committees and official of GPRN/NSCN.

The chief guest hoisted the Naga National flag and was followed by the chief guest receiving salute from the March part contingents of GPRN/NSCN cadres.

The Naga Republic day celebration today was enlightened by the performance of various cultural items by dance troupes from Chakeshang, Sangtam and Ao tribes as well as a Zeliangrong Dance troupe from Manipur.

Moreover, Kachari and Gorkha artistes also showcased their talents through rendition of many modern numbers.
