Bungobi double earns USC 3-2 win in IW 3rd Div Football League opener

Imphal, January 23 2019: The 2nd edition of Sh Mani Sharma Memorial 3rd Division Football League Tournament-2019 being organised under the supervision of Imphal West District Football Association kicked off today at P AM YAL ground, Patsoi in the presence of Ng Bimola Devi, Up-Adhyaksha, Imphal West Zilla Parishad and S Sanatomba, president, AMFA as dignitaries.

The opening match of the league tournament participated by 12 teams clubbed into two groups saw L Bungobi earn USC, Pheiyeng a hard fought 3-2 win against NSU (Awang Potsangbam) after hitting the opening goal in the 12th minute.

A Roshan scored the second for USC in the 16th minute but S Jiban of NSU pulled back a goal in the 26th minute to make it 1-2 at the break.

It was an end to end affairs for a major portion of the second half until N Rohit of NSU clinched the equaliser in the 64th minute to give his team some fresh hope.

NSU's hope of earning full points was however dismissed with L Bungobi finding the target three minutes later and helped USC regained the lead.

NSU's efforts to draw parity in the later part of the game could not materialise as USC stood tall and firm to seal the game 3-2 .
