State Sepaktakraw medallists invited to I-Day ceremony

Imphal, August 08 2025: Eleven Sepaktakraw players from Manipur, who have brought laurels to the nation through their performances at the international level, have been invited by the Ministry of Defence to participate in the Independence Day ceremony 2025 in New Delhi.

The players, who represented India at the ISTAF Sepaktakraw World Cup 2025 in Patna, Bihar, and secured medals, will be among the distinguished sportspersons present at the national celebration.

Those invited include Sorokhaibam Malemnganba (Income Tax Department), Kh Holendro (Manipur Po lice), Yunman Akash (SSB), W Henary Singh (SSB), Ayekpam Maipak (SSB), Elangbam Leirentonbi (SSB), Sorokhaibam Elizabeth (SSB), Elangbam Priya (SSB), Oinam Chaoba (PET), L Lunchenba Meitei, and Soibam Diana Devi.

According to the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association (AMSTA), the recognition comes in light of the players' medal-winning achievements in the international arena.

The association expressed pride in their contribution and lauded the Ministry of Defence for honouring their efforts by including them in the prestigious national function.
