State League: YPHU sweep past TRAU; UBFC beat USA

Imphal, May 11 2024: YPHU and UBFC notched contrasting wins in Saturday's fixtures of the 16th Manipur State League at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

YPHU swept aside TRAU 3-0 as Mangte Herochung scored twice in the ir comfortable victory.

After back-and-forth exchanges for 27 minutes, YPHU broke TRAU's resistance to set up Laishram Benjohnson Meitei for their opener.

In the ensuing minutes of contest in the first period, YPHU wert unable to make further inroads as TRAU's forwards remained clueless in front of goal at the other end.

After the break, the squads were locked in a tight battle but YPHU gradually established control and found their footing towards the end of the game when Mangte Mangte Herochung handed his team a quick double.

Mangte Herochung extended their lead in the 81st minute and went on to score his second goal in the 85th minute to ensure YPHU emerged dominant 3-0 winners.

Earlier, UBFC shrugged off a first-half deficit to outscore USA 2-1 as Themchui RS as starred in their victory.

Haobijam Tombi Singh gave USA the upper hand when he made his effort count in the 14th minute.

Themchui put UBFC on level terms after scoring in the 35th minute before he made it 2-1 in the 72nd minute and helped his side secure all three points.
