Pole Star, MU clinch inter-college badminton titles

Imphal, October 09 2024: Pole Star College and Manipur University were crowned champions of the Chongtham (O) Rajkumari Tamphasana Memorial Manipur University Inter College Badminton (M&W) Tournament 2024-25 as the three-day competition wrapped up at Indoor Hall, Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam on Wednesday.

In the men's event, Pole Star College beat Kamakhya Pemton College 3-1 to clinch the title.

The final match saw Pole Star College's K Nganba rally to secure a 15-21 21-10 21-18 win over KP College's Dinku in the first singles match.

After initially losing their lead when Ch Ritesh fell to Sirzeet in the second singles match (17-21, 16-21), Pole Star College regained momentum.

Ch Ritesh and Ch Vikson secured the doubles match with a dominant performance of 21-6, 21-7 against Dinku and Kelvin.

Ch Vikson then sealed the victory for Pole Star College by defeating Sandeep 21-8, 21-15 in the third singles match.

Manipur University, on the other hand, sealed a 2-0 victory over Imphal College in the final of the women's event.

Mercy Thoudam set the tone with a comfortable win of 21-12, 21-8 over Soraisam in the singles match.

She then partnered with Sophiya Thokchom to outclass Soraisam Kanchan arid M Christina of Imphal College 21-5, 21-8 in the doubles match, securing the championship title for Manipur University.
