Haobam Somokanta clinches 4th DCA Rapid Chess Tournament title

Imphal, May 12 2024: Haobam Somokanta topped the 4th DCA Rapid Chess Tournament organised by the D Chess Academy as Elangbam Shashikanta and RK Bhogen finished second and third.

As per a press release issued by the head coach of the D Chess Academy, Haobam Somokanta amassed 6 out of 6 points in the two-day event to secure the tournament title as Shashikanta (25.5 BH) and Bhogen (20 BH) notched up similar 5 points.

Guruaribam Arosemit Sharma (21 BH) and Khuman Einstein Maibam (18.5 BH) finished fourth and five with similar 4.5 points respectively, it said.

Youngest participants-Leirikhomba Mangang of Shishu Nistha Niketan (2 points) and Lingjelleima Thokchom (1.5 points) of Shemrock; best veteran-Maibam Dorendro (3.5 points); best player of D Chess Academy-Khoisnam Kingson; top two players in U-l 5 boys category- Lernba Sougaijam of Rama Krishna Mission School and Yaikhomba Huidrom of Catholic School; top two players in U-l5 girls category-Aastha Potsangbam of UNACCO School and Nongthombam Anjelena of Nirmalabas High School and top two players in the U-10 boys category- Mangal Elangbam and Yaingamba Yumnam and top two players in the U-10 girls category-Nongthombam Jojo of Nirmalabas Juniors School and Luching Loitongbam of KV No 1, Imphal were also feted along with the top five players with cash prizes and trophies, it said.
