Title for MU women at Inter Uni Sepaktakraw C'ship

Imphal, May 11 2024:
Manipur University emerged team event champions at the All India Inter University Women's Sepak Takraw Championship, after beating Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab in the final at St Mary's College, Thrissur, Kerala.
By virtue of being the winners of the previous competition, the MU women's team played directly in the quarterfinals, where they comfortably defeated MJP Rohikhand University (UP) 15-8, 15-4 & 154, 15-10 .
In the league semifinals, MU cruised to a 15-07, 15-05, 15-05, 15-07 & 15-07, 15-12 win over hosts University of Calicut (Kerala), before they got the better of Punjabi University 13-15, 15-11, 15-10, 15-03, 15-03 & 03-15, 15-09, 15-07 to seal the championship title in the team event.
The MU women's squad included Priyaluxmi Laishram (Naorem Birahari College), Mutum Linthoinganbi (Naorem Birahari College), Wahengbam Sanajaobi (Naorem Birahari College), Soibam Daina (Naorem Birahari College), Soibam Nandita (Naorem Birahari College), Leishangthem Sanjana (Shree Shree Gourgovind Girls' College), Khumanthem Roshni (Shree Shree Gourgovind Girls' College), Linthoinganbi Yumnam (Kakching Khunou College), Nongthombam Rina (Kakching Khunou College), Khumukcham Ranjita (Liberal College), Priyanka Laishram (Manipur University), Elangbam Sanatombi (Pole Star College) and Khaidem Gaitri Devi (Kumbi College) .
The team was led by manager Ingobi Singh (Department of Sports, MU) and coach Th Memi Devi (Youth Affairs & Sports, Manipur).
Meanwhile, Manipur University on Saturday announced that the women's team members would each receive Rs 10,000 in cash.
