17th Manipur State League : SFC consolidate Group B pole position with 3-1 win

Imphal, April 01 2025: Sainik School Imphal Old Boys' Football Club (SFC), Tera thumped FC Lamjao by 3-1 goals in a crucial top of the Group B table clash in the ongoing 17th Manipur State League today to temporarily go on top.

Coming off from a 3-2 victory against KLASA in the previous match, SFC got off to a flying start and enjoyed a 2-0 first half lead before adding another goal in the second half to cap their group campaign with six wins and a draw (8 matches) .

Khomdram Radhakanta found the breakthrough in the 9th minute before Jetlee Bura Gohain doubled the advantage in the 26th minute.

FC Lamjao reduced the deficit after 62 minutes as Thokchom Yaiphaba who subbed in for Md Samir after 32 minutes found the target but their effort to draw level did not materialise as SFC further upped their ante.

To their delight, SFC went further ahead with Jetlee Bura Gohain finding the target again in the 86th minute to further dent FC Lamjao's comeback hopes.

The scoreline remained unchanged and SFC eventually dislodged FC Lamjao from top of the table with 19 points.

Earlier in the day, United Brothers FC (UBFC), Ukhrul overwhelmed NEROCA FC by 7-2 goals thanks to doubles from Thanpam Tungshang and Warchief Chilhang.

Thanpam Tungshang opened the scoring after 13 minutes before adding his second three minutes into the stoppage time while Warchief found the target in the 76th and the 83rd minutes.

Khangampam Zimik (15'), Worchuipei Kashung (53') and Themchui RS (89') also added a goal apiece for UBFC as Yanglem Newton (45+3') and Md Sahinur (90+1') netted the face saving goals for NEROCA FC .
