Charan FC win Paona football title

Thoubal, September 30 2024: Charan FC were crowned champions of the 3rd Paona Memorial 9 A-side Football Tournament on Monday.

The tournament was organised by Education Enhancement Organisation (EEO) Lamding, Thoubal district at its ground since August 18 .

In the title clash, Charan FC defeated Yairipok FC by a solitary goal scored in the 42nd minute by Lilin, who found the back of the opponents' net from the edge of the box following a counter attack.

Charan FC were presented the winners' trophy and cash prize of Rs 53,000, as Yairipok FC had to be contented with Rs 33,000 and trophy.

Charan FC's Lilin was adjudged winner of the Best Player award and his teammate Dinesh bagged the Best Goal Keeper title while the Best Defender award was handed over to Bungson of Yairipok FC, Best Discipline Team to Ibosana FC of Nambol Leimapokpam and Top Scorer to Mahadish of Saruk FC, who netted nine goals.

The final match was attended by Wangkhem MLA K Meghachandrana as chief guest and former Khangabok MLA O Landhoni as president, while Thoubal DYASO official Deben Moirangthem, Thoubal District Veterinary Department's joint director P Gojendro, EEO, Lamding advisor L Subashchandra, Slopeland Public School, Khongjom founder principal N Babulin and Sangaiyum-pham Zilla Parishad member Hibjur Rahman were guests of honour.
