SAI-RC, AFC script convincing wins in 17th Manipur State League

Imphal, February 28 2025: SAI-RC, Takyel and Athletic Football Club (AFC), Thoubal Athokpam registered comprehensive Group B victories in the ongoing 17th Manipur State League today at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

In the 33rd match of the tournament, SAI-RC came out all guns blazing to overwhelm Keinou Library and Sports Association (KLASA), Keinou by 5-0 goals.

SAI-RC started confidently and raced to a 3-0 lead courtesy of flurry of goals from Bless Vashum (5' penalty), Ngairangbam Jarish (20') and Kharibam Pravananda (37') before Thokchom Robert who came off the bench after 17 minutes scored in the 63rd minute to make it 4-0 and Oinam Romio rounded off the scoring in the 83rd minute.

Later in the day, AFC rode on a glut of four goals from skipeer Wahengbam Tejkumar (17', 40', 59', 90+4') to crush United Brothers FC (UBFC), Ukhrul by 6-1 goals.

It was Tejkumar who broke the deadlock in the 17th minute to put AFC ahead before Suraj Wangkhem (20') and Md Iliyash Khan (31') took their turns to take AFC to 3-0.Tejkumar then completed his double in the 40th minute to earn AFC a commanding 4-0 first half lead.

UBFC who were reeling under immense pressure pulled back a goal through Zakyuishang Shipo in the 58th minute but it proved to be their consolation goal as Tejkumar bounced back to retain the four goal cushion for his team the very next minute before signing off with a stoppage time goal (90+4') to make the scoreline read 6-1 .
