Imphal, December 30: Cosmo, Wangkhei overwhelmed SEYO, Singjamei 4-1 in the opening match of the 10th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey Tournament at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium today.

After conceding a goal to the opponents 15 minutes into the game when RK Chitaren struck, SEYO showed glimpses of putting up a good fight when Ksh Sumeshkanta restored parity in the 46th minute.

However, Th Manjit regained the Cosmo lead three minutes later before L Herojit converted a penalty corner in the 60th minute and Th Hemjit put the match to safety the very next minute.

The tournament being participated by 10 teams was inaugurated by Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board E Kunjeswar Singh as the chief guest while president of Manipur Hockey Association L Ibopishak Singh and manipur Olympic Association president E Binoykumar Singh graced the occasion as the president and guest of honour respectively.
