Manipur finish runners-up at Aquatic Nationals

Imphal, August 08 2025: Manipur added a silver medal to their tally as the 41st Sub Junior and 51st Junior National Aquatic Championship 2025 wrapped up on Friday in Bengaluru.

The state emerged as team champions in the boys' section, with Koijam Athoiba named Best Swimmer.

Overall, Manipur finished as runners-up in the championship.

Korounganba Magang was the lone medallist for the state on the final day, securing a silver medal in the Boys' Group II 3m springboard event.

Earlier in the competition, Manipur's swimmers and divers had turned in a series of strong performances.

In swimming, the quartet of K Athoiba, Laitonjam Panghen, Soram Petersen, and Mangalsana Thangjam won silver in the 4x50m medley relay.

Athoiba also struck gold in the 100m freestyle, while Hemanshu Nahakpam clinched silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 100m backstroke.

The diving contingent was equally impressive.

Arubam Benhar claimed gold in the Im springboard (255.04 points) and silver in the platform (210.80 points), while Hirom Bonson Singh took silver in the 1m springboard (199.05 points) and bronze in the platform (205.20 points) .

In Group III springboard events, Benhar and Bonson repeated their dominance, winning gold and silver respectively in both the 1m and 3m categories.
