WALYDA win in Kakching Second Divn League opener

Imphal, July 14 2024: WALYDA, Wabagai sealed a slender 1-0 win over UCC, Kakching as the 2nd Division Football League Tournament organised by District Sports Association, Kakching kicked off today at DSA playground.

The tournament participated by 9 teams clubbed into two groups was formally opened in the presence of L Naba Singh, president, District Sports Association (DSA), Bishnupur; Ksh Ibobi, president DSA Kakching and Th Dhiren, Treasurer, DSA Bishnupur as dignitaries.

In the group A opener, WALYDA and UCC remained neck and neck throughout the game but a goal by Th Bidyakanta in the 64th minute helped the Wabagai team seal all three points.

In another Group A encounter staged later in the day, SRDC thumped KFC 4-2 in an all Kakching team clash.

M Devaraj took centrestage and contributed three goals to SRDC's tally while RK Mangalsana struck one.

N Rustam and Th Yumjao in the meantime found the target for KFC.

SRDC enjoyed slight dominance from the beginning and went into the break with a 2-1 lead courtesy goals from M Devaraj (12') and RK Mangalsana (40+2') as N Rustam (22') scored in between the goals.

After the changeover, Th Yumjao drew level for KFC in the 47th minute but M Devaraj scored two goals back to back (47', 80+3') to regain the lead for SRDC and set up the 4-2 victory.
