Imphal, September 08 2026: Thoubal team were crowned the champions of the Kabaddi tournament organised by the 232 (M) Bn CRPF at SAI NERC Takyel under "Sports for Peace and Development Across the Nation" initiative.

Team Shirui and NB College meanwhile finished second and third in the two-day tournament participated by 9 teams of females aged 18 and above.

The teams displayed outstanding skill, determination, discipline and team spirit throughout the tournament, said 232 (M) Bn CRPF in a press release.

The podium finishers were feted with a cash prize of Rs 10,000; Rs 7,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively, it said.

The closing ceremony was attended by Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Oinam Bembem; Th Debajani Devi, DC and Dett Commander; Aiswarya Joy M, AC and Neena Sharma, AC as dignitaries who also led in presenting prizes, medals and certificates to the podium finishers, it said.
