2nd Teachers' Cup Football Tournament kicks off in Noney

Noney, November 06 2026: The inaugural session and formal ceremony of the 2nd Teachers' Cup 2026 commenced today at the Agah-Phay Turf Court in Longmai, Noney District.

Organised by Jadonang Memorial College (JMC), Noney, the tournament is being held under the inspiring theme, "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body" .

The event was graced by Kaiso Johny Modoyio, Branch Manager of Manipur Rural Bank (MRB), Noney Branch, as the chief guest, and Gailung Gangmei, chairman of the Longmai Bazaar Board, as the guest of honour.

The ceremonial welcome for the dignitaries was led by Dr Charaibou and Miss Lozy Kamei, followed by an opening prayer by Pastor Dimchungrei Rongmei of Longmai-5 Baptist Church.

Dr Rimmei Rongmei, Principal of JMC, delivered the welcome speech, while SK Namkhon, Assistant Professor at JMC, shared a brief introduction to the tournament.

Speaking at the gathering, chief guest Kaiso Johny Modoyio lauded the initiative, stating that organising such a sports event for educators is excellent for all-round physical education.

He noted that the tournament would foster enthusiasm and help teachers from various schools and colleges build meaningful connections.

He extended his gratitude to the organising committee and wished the participating teams success.

Around 10 school teams from across the Noney district headquarters are competing in the tournament.

The opening ceremony was well-attended by founders, principals, and teachers from several high schools, higher secondary schools, and colleges.

In a thrilling opening match, Domini English High School Teachers secured a narrow 5-4 victory over Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School Teachers.
